Therapy Groups

  • Healing Your Inner Child Group

A trauma therapy group aimed to help you connect, accept, and love your inner child by learning more about who you are and reparenting yourself as an adult.

This therapy group is a space to find a community of those who share similar childhood adversities and are seeking to journey with others in healing trauma. We learn about how our inner child was formed, explore our identity, and practice/apply tools that aid our trauma recovery through this new lens. Gently getting to know parts of ourselves can give way to a full embrace of our whole being with nurturance and self love.

  • Resiliency Trauma Group

A trauma psychoeducation therapy group that focuses on learning about the effects of trauma, developing skills to overcome hardships, and building resilience for the future.

This therapy group discusses adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the ways it impacts us. Learning about ACEs helps us recognize triggers so that we can live more presently rather than staying stuck in past trauma. We practice grounding techniques together, get the chance to share our stories, and gather support from fellow group members on the same path towards resiliency.

  • DBT Skills Training Group

A therapy group that uses curriculum from the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills manual, which focuses on coping skills, managing emotions, and positive relationships.

This therapy group aims to help individuals struggling with intense emotions and impulses, making daily functioning and relationships difficult to navigate. The curriculum provides countless skills related to mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Alongside that, group members support each other in learning and practicing skills together and outside of group.

FAQs for group therapy

What are the benefits of group therapy?

One of the biggest strengths of groups is community. Connecting with other people who are on similar healing journeys helps us realize we are not alone, and in fact we can rely on the support of others while navigating hardships in our lives! The relationships that members build in these groups always humble and amaze me because of how transformative connection can be for well-being and healing.

You can also think of group therapy as a community where you can practice new skills with others who want practice too, and in the context of a safe and non-judgmental space! It is a perfect place to test how it feels taking relationship risks in small doses, like learning to trust again, opening up and sharing your story, expressing your thoughts and emotions even if you disagree, and practicing a grounding exercise if you or another member feel triggered. Groups can provide a rehearsal space, so to speak, so that you feel more confident applying your practiced skills in relationship contexts and triggering situations outside of group!
